Why that date
Czech tradition, like Poland’s, concentrates the whole Christmas ritual — including tree decoration and the arrival of gifts from Ježíšek (Baby Jesus) — into Christmas Eve itself.
What actually happens
Some modern families now decorate a few days ahead of Christmas Eve for convenience, but the traditional norm remains the 24th itself.
